Start your day with a gentle flow class. Waking up the muscles and joints and flowing through a gentle practice, in this hour-long class we’ll ease into the day with energy and mindfulness.
Our Flow Yoga class incorporates vinyasas, or a series of postures moving through a sequence at a steady pace while synchronizing the breath. This Hatha style yoga class is designed for students at all levels of experience. We transition through traditional yoga postures starting with a slower warm up, then gradually building to a faster pace with stronger postures, ultimately ending with a relaxing savasana. This class gives you the tools you need to improve your individual yoga practice, leaving you energized and refreshed.
Appropriate for new students or those who prefer a slower paced class, this gentle class incorporates traditional postures and beginner-friendly sequences. This class serves as a bridge between our Restorative and Flow classes, and ends in a relaxing savasana.
Intermediate level yogis who like to incorporate a lot of movement and strength building in their practice will enjoy our power classes. Get your heart rate up during this brisk practice with challenging postures that push you towards your edge. Instructors may incorporate an Ashtanga style of flow, or opt for longer holds in strength building postures. Build and tone your muscles and improve your flexibility while improving your individual yoga practice.
Relax, Renew and Restore
Treat yourself to a relaxing evening that well help you unwind and prepare for the coming week. Each week one of Gulfport Yoga’s teachers or a guest teacher will lead you in specific techniques for calming the mind, managing stress and restoring the body through mindfulness meditation, pranayama (breath work), restorative postures, yoga nidra (a type of guided meditation) or related topics. Leave class feeling refreshed and more balanced.
Restorative / Relaxation Yoga
This class incorporates a traditional restorative style with gentle stretching and is intending to relax and renew the body. Students at all levels of experience are welcome to join this relaxing practice. We will use full body bolsters, blankets, blocks and straps to relax into restful, gentle postures. We will incorporate soft music and short meditations to help clear the mind and release the stresses and worries of your day.
Restorative / Therapeutic Yoga
Ideal for beginners and those experiencing any discomfort in the muscles and joints, those looking to increase their flexibility or those wanting to practice yoga at a relaxing pace, this class was designed by a licensed massage therapist with an eye to using yoga as a natural complement to regular massage. You will be guided through a gentle practice of restorative postures, while remaining mindful of areas of the body that require special focus.
In this class, we focus on the fundamentals of yoga and go beyond asana – the physical practice. We explore proper alignment in the postures, the use of breath in the practice and more. If you’re new to yoga or if you just want to improve your current practice, ask questions or find out if you’re doing a posture correctly, the format of this class allows for open discussion and is accessible to all levels.
Yoga Immersion Lab
In this Kripalu-inspired mixed-levels class, the beginner will gain confidence in technique, while the practiced yogi will find something new in an ongoing exploration of breath, postures, meditation, and yoga philosophy. This class is intended as a companion class to the Sadhana Immersion Series on Saturdays, but is open to all.
